Polestar Becomes Official Mobility Partner of Borussia Dortmund

The partnership is set for three years and is part of a comprehensive campaign to significantly boost Polestar’s brand awareness in Europe’s largest automotive market.
Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, stated:
“Germany is crucial to our growth strategy in our home market of Europe. With Borussia Dortmund, we’ve found an emotional and progressive partner that fits us perfectly. Now we’re going on the offensive together. We have fantastic cars that we’ll bring to life with BVB. We’re confident that many will choose Polestar once they see and test our vehicles.”

Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund, emphasized:
“We’re very pleased to have secured Polestar as a partner. Polestar is a modern, dynamic company that takes its sustainability strategy seriously. That impressed me just as much as the fresh, Swedish design of their cars. Together, Polestar and BVB aim to compete at the highest level in all competitions.”
Polestar is a pure electric car brand with ambitious climate goals, much like BVB. As the official mobility partner, Polestar will provide a fleet of 60 vehicles to BVB, which will already be in use at the training camp in Austria this week. These vehicles will be available for use by the team, management, and officials – another step by both organizations toward continuously reducing CO₂ emissions.
Even before the official start of the partnership, several BVB players – including Jobe Bellingham, Pascal Groß, and Daniel Svensson – had the opportunity to test drive a Polestar 5 prototype. The performance GT will make its world premiere on September 8 at the IAA Mobility in Munich.
“This car is a statement for the future – the ultimate proof that electric mobility is highly attractive and that no one has to sacrifice anything to be sustainable,” said Lohscheller.
Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of BVB, added:
“The combination of sustainability, innovation, Swedish design, power, and dynamism makes Polestar the perfect partner for Borussia Dortmund. I’ve rarely seen professionals so excited about a partnership after a product presentation – which in this case was a pretty fast-paced test drive.”
In addition to jersey branding across all competitions, Polestar will also be featured on official pre-match apparel and various advertising spaces in and around the stadium.
“Through this partnership with BVB, Polestar will be able to inspire millions of people year-round – in a culturally relevant and highly emotional environment. We have many ideas for joint initiatives. Test drives are just the beginning; we’re going on the offensive and will show that our vehicles outperform most traditional manufacturers,” said Michael Manske, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Polestar.
BVB will debut the Polestar sleeve logo this coming Sunday during the season opener against Juventus Turin.
Rosier Remains a BVB Partner
Polestar is taking over the automotive partnership from previous premium and automotive partner Rosier. However, the partnership with the Menden-based car dealership group, which kept BVB mobile over the past two seasons, will continue in an adapted form. Going forward, Rosier will remain a loyal partner to BVB exclusively in the commercial vehicle segment.
